I've talked about how recovery from addiction "takes a lot of hard work, willingness, a desire to truly change and grow as a person, a safe place full of peer-led support, and people successfully living in recovery as guides." It also takes a certain sense of desperation, which I have highlighted in the previous chapters.
We can treat the symptoms of addiction. The physical withdrawal, the emotional instability following this acute withdrawal phase, otherwise referred to as PAWS (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome), and any mental health conditions that have been exposed or have developed.
